125 Years of History

[vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]On Tuesday, January 1 we rang in the new year and celebrated the first day of 2013.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]January 1 was also an important day for Cabot – the company officially turned 125 years old. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]In 1888, Godfrey Lowell Cabot bought his brother’s businesses from them and became the sole proprietor of what would eventually become Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation. The company has a proud history starting with drilling its first well in western Pennsylvania in 1891 and continued its successes for decades until present day.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Some quick facts:

  • The community of Cabot, Pennsylvania is named after our founder, Godfrey Lowell Cabot, who established the Cabot Academy in the town.
  • Cabot first expanded south into Texas in 1925 under the leadership of Tom Cabot.
  • In 1991, Cabot became a 100% publicly owned company.

Bill serves as an External Affairs Coordinator for Coterra Energy. He is focused on building community knowledge and support for the organization and industry at large. Before his time with Coterra Energy, Bill was the original Field Director for Energy in Depth’s Northeast Marcellus campaign. Within this two-year position, Bill worked to engage, educate, and mobilize supporters of Marcellus Shale development across New York and Pennsylvania. Bill received his B.S. in Management, a B.A. in History, and an MBA from Misericordia University.
