This month the United Way asked the community to help collect items for the Women’s Resource Center in northeastern Pennsylvania because April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Women’s Resource Center is a no questions asked 24-hour hotline and crisis counseling organization for victims of domestic violence and rape.  When you look at today’s statistics concerning abusive relationships, domestic violence and sexual violence it’s hard to imagine the number of people who have experienced or been affected by such a travesty.
Cabot and GDS worked with its employees to collect shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes etc… and in just three weeks support for this campaign skyrocketed. In total our employees raised an estimated $2,000 worth of these much needed items.
All of the collected items were delivered earlier at the United Way’s annual meeting. During the meeting, Alex Freed of P&G and Helen Humphreys of Williams shared fundraising campaign tips and advice. Leadership of the United Way expressed sincere gratitude for everything last year before motivating the crowd of community leaders to outperform expectations again this year.
Both P&G and Williams were honored for exception service and fundraising last year. Cabot also received recognition at the event for its response to super-storm Sandy last year.
