On October 13th, 2015, students at Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center participated in The Challenge Program, Inc. during a kick-off assembly at their school. The assembly theme was a team project dramatization that demonstrated positive and negative workplace behaviors to help students succeed on-the-job.
During the assembly, students in the sophomore, junior and senior classes were introduced to local career opportunities. Throughout the year, they will be eligible to compete for financial awards in five areas linked with academic and workplace success: Attendance, Academic Improvement, Academic Excellence, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) and Community Service.
Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation once again served as the school’s business partner, something it has done for the past five years. To read about last year’s kickoff, check out: SCCTC Students Start Their Year with the Challenge Program, Inc. During that time, the company has spoken in front of hundreds of students to introduce them to job opportunities in the region.
“Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation is proud to sponsor career readiness programs at the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center, especially The Challenge Program, Inc. The five core areas (Academic Excellence, Academic Improvement, STEM, Attendance, and Community Service) developed by the Program personify the hard working men and woman throughout the oil & gas industry,” said Bill desRosiers, External Affairs Coordinator for Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation. “Over the last five years this partnership has created the most unique pathway for Cabot’s employees to interact with, motivate and reward students who demonstrate the skill sets required to succeed in school and in their future careers.”
