This week, Anne Bradbury, the CEO of the American Exploration and Production Council (AXPC), gave the keynote address during America’s Rural Energy Coalition Conference in San Antonio, Texas.  AXPC is the national trade association, based in Washington, DC, that advocates for the policies, regulations, and laws that support the upstream onshore industry’s ability to continue to lead the world in responsible domestic production of oil and natural gas. 

Anne, who is also a former landowner and current mineral rights owner in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, shared her firsthand experience about how America’s oil and natural gas industry has been a lifeline to many small towns across the country.  

Looking at the effects of energy policies, Anne talked about the geopolitical, national, and local benefits of domestic energy production – and how the policies in Washington affect rural America.  She highlighted how the Shale Revolution revitalized manufacturing across the country, led to the U.S. being the leader in emissions reductions, and supported our energy security.  

With energy being front and center in Washington and around the world lately, Anne underscored the need for a policy shift in Washington that recognizes that affordable domestic energy is needed to keep prices low, and support security around the world.  Outlining solutions to rising energy costs, Anne shared AXPC’s policy recommendations for the Administration and Congress, including:

  • Restarting regular leasing on federal lands
  • Supporting the buildout of new pipelines 
  • LNG export capacity
  • Supporting international financing for energy projects abroad
  • Working with our industry on common sense regulatory proposals. 

She also emphasized that targeted attacks, finger pointing, and calls for new taxes or investigations into the industry do not lower energy prices – and that the best way to actually lower energy prices is with a long-term focus on common-sense policies that increase supply and support our industry.
