With the new age of Coterra upon us, we’re excited to see renovations being completed on our headquarters in Houston. Our offices at the Memorial City Plaza are getting a $20 million makeover by property owner MetroNational. The work has already begun and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
Built in the 80s and 90s, the three buildings located at Memorial City Plaza will have modern interior and exterior upgrades. Renovation plans for the project have been designed with the intention to encourage employees to move about the complex and out of their offices throughout the workday. New amenities include a fitness center, conference center, meeting rooms and air-conditioned skywalks to connect each of the buildings.
The conference center and “food concept” are considered the central “hub” and will be located in building two. Employees from all buildings will have easy access to it. Additionally, the entrance for building one will be modified and rotated toward building two allowing for a smooth transition between the buildings.
“We’re also going to spread meeting areas throughout the complex,” said Jason Johnson, President of MetroNational. “We know employees don’t want to be stuck behind their desk all day.”
One focal point of the project was to improve the complex’s green spaces, which until now were not properly optimized to encourage employee use. The renovation project’s remedy to this issue is “The Porch.” This is an outdoor dining area with space to welcome food trucks and other events.
“This is an opportunity for Coterra Energy to relaunch our company with a newly visioned workspace for our Houston headquarters,” Chris Clason, senior vice president and chief human resources officer of Coterra Energy, said in a statement. “We could have moved anywhere in Houston, but our employees love this location and are excited about the plans for the reimagined complex and Coterra offices.”
