Coterra recently presented a $25,000 check to Feeding Pennsylvania and CEO Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank during the 107th Pennsylvania Farm Show opening ceremony. The funding supports Fill a Glass with Hope®, a unique partnership formed among the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association, the American Dairy Association North East, and member food banks to purchase fresh milk directly from local dairies to distribute to families in need across the state. Coterra’s funding allows CEO Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank to offer this tremendous program in Susquehanna and Wyoming counties.

The CEO of Feeding Pennsylvania, Jane Clements, remarked during the press conference that nearly 2 million people are food insecure across the state. With 53,000 registered farms across the Commonwealth, Clements proclaimed this is “unacceptable!”

Fill a Glass with Hope was explicitly created to fix this disconnect and provide more pathways for fresh and nutritious milk to reach needy families. Since its creation in 2015, Fill A Glass with Hope has provided 34 million servings of milk. That’s 8.5 million quarts of milk!

Also in attendance for the event were Russell Redding, Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary, and Dave Smith, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association.

“There is no acceptable level of hunger, especially in a state with such incredible bounty. Thank you for your tenacity in working toward the goal of everyone in Pennsylvania having a place to turn to put food on their tables,” Redding proclaimed.

“With rising prices and inflationary pressures affecting all of us, I am proud that Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers are committed to providing fresh milk to Fill a Glass with Hope® for our neighbors in need. At times like this, we must rally behind the heritage of this great commonwealth rooted in giving back and uplifting all who need assistance. Our dairy products, cultivated with love and pride, help alleviate some of the food insecurity Pennsylvanians face while providing much-needed nutrition and comfort, especially during the winter ahead,” Smith said.

Coterra’s joined Columbia Gas, First Energy, and Weis Markets as premier program sponsors, helping to raise $201,000, a new Fill a Glass with Hope® record. In milk servings, this equates to 830,000 servings of milk!
