Since 2017, the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce (WCCC) has conducted the Leadership Wyoming program, where residents and employees of Wyoming County can enroll to participate in a 9-month program led by experts in their field. Each session highlights the areas within the county that help keep it flourishing and includes site tours and meetings with local elected officials. In Leadership Wyoming, participants gain a more thorough understanding of areas such as Agriculture, Manufacturing, Natural Gas, Government & Emergency Services, Health & Wellness, Community & Human Services, Economic Development & Heritage, Culture & Tourism.  Additional benefits of the program include awareness of community issues and the opportunity to expand and strengthen leadership and professional skills.

For the last four years, Coterra & GasSearch Drilling Services (GDS) have taken advantage of the Leadership Wyoming program by enrolling interested employees and encouraging them to strengthen their abilities through exposure to the various community and nonprofit organizations that serve Wyoming county. 2022 Graduate Robert Piccoletti, Assistant Trucking Foreman of GDS states, “The leadership program surrounds you with successful community leaders and teaches you things like teamwork, problem-solving, empathy, work ethic, and employee development. This, in turn, has improved my self-confidence and is helping me to advance in my career”.  As a part of their final project, 2022 participants improved their team building skills by volunteering at a Patriots’ Cove event, Fish for the Fallen. This annual fishing tournament helps provide recreational opportunities for veterans and first responders who live with PTSD. During this event, program volunteers cleaned up pathways, managed parking, provided traffic control, designed and donated window stickers as a fundraiser for the event.

2023 candidates from Coterra and GDS have submitted applications to Leadership Wyoming and will begin classes this September. With company-paid tuition, these candidates will strengthen their employee skills, gain a sense of leadership in volunteerism and community, and create beneficial and comprehensive relationships that will help develop their careers.
