Approximately 75 people attended the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce’s first ever Denim & Diamonds fundraiser. Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation was proud to be the Presenting Sponsor. Initially, the dinner party was to be held outside on the lawn of the Chamber’s new headquarters, which affords an exceptional view of the Susquehanna River Valley below. But forecasts for heavy rains forced organizers to think “inside the box,” which was perhaps even better.

“While wind and rain prevented the event from taking place on the lawn, our office building was transformed in a dazzling space filled with laughter, conversation, and music,” said Chamber president Gina Suydam.

Indeed, by staging the food and beverages in three different rooms, guests were motivated to move about and talk with a greater variety of people than they might have outside. And, while we probably would have taken a few minutes to tour the offices to see where our Chamber friends work, we were instead given a unique opportunity to see the full potential of the inside space for future events.

In addition to proceeds from ticket sales for the gala, Chamber employees and other volunteers sold raffle tickets for a variety of prizes, including a pair of diamond earrings provided by M&T Bank that were won by Stacy Frank of S2W Contracting, which provides gas field services in the region.

I was caught off guard as the winner of the “best interpretive outfit” of the night with my denim tuxedo, receiving a set of custom-made bean bags for a game of cornhole.

Kudos to the other key sponsors, who followed our lead to support the Chamber by covering the costs of various elements of the event, such as the fine meal provided by Constantino’s Catering, a dessert buffet, wine and beer sampling, and live music by Lindsay Van Gordon and Mike Elward.

The success of the event and fundraisers like this allow for the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce to maintain affordable programming and membership for the business community throughout the year. As our partnership with Gina and the Chamber continues to grow stronger, we look forward to other fun ways to get together with the fine folks of Wyoming County.
