@WPXEnergy has been around since 1983. For the first 27 years the company was part of Williams Co., but by the end of 2011, they split off to form WPX as a stand-alone independent company completely focused on the E&P space.
WPX Energy is based in Tulsa, Okla., with operations in Colorado, New Mexico, North Dakota, Wyoming, and of course, Pennsylvania. Over the past year, they’ve announced two major discoveries – a natural gas find in Colorado’s Niobrara Shale and an oil discovery in New Mexico’s Gallup Sandstone.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Senior Communications Specialist Tamara Hooks who gave us some pretty cool information on WPX Energy!

We also have a social media governance board that represents 20 functions across WPX.
What role does Twitter have for @WPXEnergy?
Twitter serves as a means to engage our investor/business audience by frequently communicating investor-related content, including company and industry news. Our intent is to build reputation and audience, generate positive sentiment via tweets, mentions and re-tweets, and increase our number of followers.
What do you think is the most interesting aspect of @WPXEnergy?
We have recently commissioned a new documentary about hydraulic fracturing called Down Deep. It’s the fracking movie that simply must be seen because it presents the real facts on the process in a way that’s easy to understand. We also have a featured video of the week that provides our followers a sneak peek inside our company culture, executive leadership, operations, our talented people and our community involvement.
Don’t forget to tell others about the @DownDeepFilm. Help spread the truth about hydraulic fracturing and how it’s a key piece of America’s energy security.  The goal is to educate, inform and set the record straight about one of the great technology marvels of our time.  It’s worth a watch!
