Even in a struggling economy, America’s oil and natural gas companies continue to provide well-paying jobs to millions of Americans. While overall employment dropped this year, the oil and gas industry saw big gains, adding 193,000 jobs in May, 193,000 in June, 195,000 in July and 196,000 in August. As for employment by occupation, petroleum engineering grew the fastest, adding 19,880 jobs in 2012, with the Geo-scientist occupation adding 9,640 jobs.
Since 2008, natural gas companies directly employed 622,000 Americans, and those numbers are only growing. And although natural gas is being safely and responsibly produced in 31 states across the country, it’s putting Americans to work in all 50 states.
It is a field for both men and women, old and young. It is an industry that will continue to invigorate the economy and create jobs at a faster pace.
