Meet the Cabot Crew: John EdmondsToday we would like you to meet John Edmonds, a Financial Analyst for the North Region of Cabot Oil & Gas. John has worked at Cabot for 11 years and five months, but who’s counting? As a Financial Analyst, he takes care of the North Region’s incomes and expenditures and advises all departments about spending management and accounting needs.Q: Where are you from originally? I was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in Texas, Mississippi, Missouri and Oklahoma. My career has taken me to Wyoming, Colorado, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas. Q:  Speaking of your career, for how many years have you been involved with the Oil and Gas industry? I worked in the industry for 32 years, and spent just over 20 of those years with BP/Amoco Production Company. During my career I have worked projects in basins in 18 states including Alabama, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas. I’ve also worked projects in the Gulf of Mexico and Canada.Q: What are some of your main job duties as a Financial Analyst?  I prepare the Annual Budget, monitor monthly actuals, provide accounting guidance, manage accounts payable, coordinate audits between offices and ensure that the North Region follows generally accepted accounting practices. I also serve as the Project Manager for Cabot’s office space build-out project. In that role I order furniture for the office move, work with the architect, coordinate the movement of files and perform many other related duties. Q: What do you like about your position and working at Cabot? My position is very fast-paced and it can be challenging to provide support for so many departments both within the region and the corporate office.
