Have you seen this face (pictured right) around  Susquehanna County? Maybe? Well let me take some time to formally introduce myself if we haven’t already met. My name is Bill desRosiers and for the last year plus, I’ve worked as a field director for Energy in Depth: Northeast Marcellus Initiative. In that capacity I helped research, inform and educate anyone willing to listen about safe, responsible natural gas development in Marcellus shale footprint. Now, with a great opportunity ahead, I’m bringing my experience and knowledge to Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation as an external affairs coordinator. What does external affairs mean exactly? Well, interacting with the community is my first priority. Whether it’s the Chocolate & Wine Festival in Montrose, Pa., this past Saturday, or the upcoming Wyoming County Natural Gas Expo, I’m proud to represent Cabot Oil & Gas.Education, both in the classroom and on an active work site, is my second priority with Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation. As a country, we consume enormous amounts of energy from different sources and places. Over the last few years, we have seen domestic natural gas production grow and show that it can fill our energy demands. Therefore, it is increasingly important that everyone understands how such an energy source is developed. Also, topics like pipelines and CNG are becoming more important. As an industry representative, I will try my best to clarify these topics whenever they arise.Communication between industry operators, suppliers, contractors and trade associations is another responsibility of mine. Transparency and consistency are important to this industry. Events like last year’s Let’s Talk About It, a fracfocus.org themed forum, is a great example of how the regional community benefited greatly from inter-industry teamwork. As for the rest of my responsibilities, I’m still trying to figure that out. Check back with me in a few weeks for a better explanation. Before I conclude this introduction, here is a thought that motivates me: every day that natural gas is produced from Marcellus shale in Pennsylvania, we as a country move toward energy independence.I’m extremely grateful and excited to represent Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation. If you see me around stop and say hello. Thanks,Bill desRosiers
