By now you’ve probably heard about the new Russel Crowe movie, Noah, that is in theaters. It was the number 1 movie last week and doesn’t show signs of slowing down. What you may not know, however, is that one company operating in northeastern Pennsylvania – and in fact one of Cabot’s contractors – helped to make the famous flood scenes possible.
Here’s the trailer for those not familiar:

The New York office of Rain for Rent was involved with the filming of Noah from about June 2012 until November 2012 as it was filmed on Long Island. We caught up with Clarence Evans to ask him about the experience.
So what role did Rain for Rent have on the set of Noah?We were there an average of five days a week during shooting and we pumped and filtered water for the rain booms used around set.
What was the setup like?
The location was set in Glen Cove, Long Island where the film took over a nearby arboretum and filmed many of the scenes in the open area. We had three to four employees on set during filming to make sure everything was running smoothly with our pump operations.
Are you able to point out scenes in the movie where you know Rain for Rent was involved?I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I can definitely watch the trailer and recall the scenes in it where I remember being on set. We’re trying to organize a movie night for everyone in the office to go see it in theaters, but if we aren’t able to we will definitely plan a team building exercise and watch it when it comes out on DVD.
Is this the first time Rain for Rent has been involved with Hollywood?Rain for Rent was involved with the filming of the movie The Sorcerer’s Apprentice where we needed to flood a stage area about 100 feet by 75 feet in minutes and then drain it again and repeat the process. So we’ve definitely been involved before.
What did you think of helping to make Noah?It was a great experience
