US veterans and American made cars fueled by our county’s own natural gas…what could be more patriotic than that?
Bob DeLucia, CEO of Veterans’ Taxi is a U.S. Army veteran himself, he served a tour in Vietnam, and is the creator of Operation Rising Star.  Operation Rising Star is a unique program that gives military personnel and their families opportunities to become successful through the Taxi business. Whether program participants are interested in owning/operating their own fleet, or becoming a driver, mechanic or dispatcher, Operation Rising Star helps every step of the way with training and funding.
As a 10 year advisory board member for the Public Utility Commission, DeLucia was asked to bring his taxi services into the city of Pittsburgh. There was a great need for more cab transportation services in the area.
He saw an opportunity to not only answer the city’s needs, but to also provide employment opportunities for military personnel and their families as they transition back to a civilian lifestyle.
DeLucia and the members of his Veterans’ Taxi team learned their high service standards while in the military, and are now repurposing them in a “Vetrepreneurial” way to serve our country again as civilians.
The Veterans’ Cab service utilizes new MV1 vehicles that are made in the USA, that run on compressed natural gas (CNG). Most of these extremely roomy vehicles are wheelchair accessible, which offers patrons in need of that service a way to ride with dignity.
DeLucia enjoys the benefits that come with using natural gas such as, the reduced cost of fuel, the reduced emissions that lead to a cleaner environment and his favorite: reduced dependence on foreign oil.
As of now Veterans’ Taxi is only available in Pittsburgh, but they are perusing ventures to add companies across the county in Fort Myers and Tampa, Florida; San Francisco, San Diego and Bakers Field, California; Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Ann Arbor, Michigan and Kansas City, Missouri.
The Fort Myers service is expected to begin within the next 30-60 days.
Veterans’ Taxi has a 24 hour dispatch service with metered rates. Next time you’re in need of a taxi call (412) 481-VETS (8387) for a ride in a taxi that costs less, is better for the environment, has no dependency on foreign oil and is driven by a veteran that is proud to serve you again.
