If “fear is toxic,” then “truth is the antidote.” Most people who care about the oil and gas industry or who want to learn about the operations of Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation and other natural gas companies have either seen or heard about the movie Gasland. Directed by Josh Fox and endorsed by a number of “celebrities,” Gasland didn’t exactly speak well of the industry or of the methods we use to provide America with clean, affordable natural gas.
Gasland planted fear of oil and gas companies into quite a few Americans, but luckily plenty of people, including industry experts, university professors and state legislators, have come forward since Gasland to debunk the film’s claims and provide real facts about hydraulic fracturing and other drilling techniques.
Recently, the film Truthland chronicled the cross-country journey of one skeptical Pennsylvanian eager to determine whether Gasland was telling the truth about drilling taking place near her home. She set out to ask unpaid experts plenty of questions about the Marcellus Shale, her land and her family’s health. Want to know what she learned? Watch the full movie here:
