On the heels of the successful CNG Celebration Event last month focusing on expanded natural gas usage across northeastern Pennsylvania comes news that Diaz Companies is converting their fleet over to run on natural gas.
From the Channel 34 news story:

President, Adam Diaz, says last year he started looking at fuel figures. He says he was spending 2 and a half million dollars a year on diesel. That’s when he made the decision to convert the fleet of 50 light weight and heavy duty trucks to CNG. This is one of the first fully independent heavy duty CNG trucks in the northeast.

Mr. Diaz goes on to further say that the company is roughly 8 months away from beginning construction on its own CNG fueling station. This will mean that Diaz Companies will be self-sufficient in fueling their natural gas-burning vehicles. Though the trucks are 10 to 20 percent more expensive up front compared to solely gasoline or diesel burning vehicles, the cost to fill up with natural gas is less than $2.00 per gallon equivalent. With those kind of fuel savings, the trucks will pay for themselves in two years.
You can be sure that there will be more of these announcements and events in the future as more and more businesses take advantage of the clean-burning, affordable natural gas supply.
