For the past three years, the Shale Gas Innovation Contest has served as way to recognize cutting-edge ideas and technology in the world of shale gas. This year will be no different with the top four ideas being awarded $25,000 each.

The Shale Gas Innovation & Commercialization Center (SGICC) was created by the Ben Franklin Technology Partners with the mission  “to establish a collaborative that will engage a wide range of partners with the intent to accelerate technology breakthroughs related to the shale energy resource.”
SGICC runs the Innovation Contest and has put the following information out:

Are you a researcher, entrepreneur, or innovator working in the shale gas space in Pennsylvania or West Virginia?  The Ben Franklin Shale Gas Innovation and Commercialization Center www.sgicc.org announced today the program will award a total of$100,000 in cash prizes for the four best shale gas-oriented innovations, new product ideas, or service concepts that are either in the development stage or recently launched.

The contest is open to any and all ideas that work with in the shale gas space – even commercially available services and products that have less than $1 million in sales. Official rules for the Shale Gas Innovation Contest can be found on the sgicc.com.
Deadline to apply is February 1, 2014 so if you or someone you know would be eligible to apply, be sure to get those applications in!
